In the Battle of Ideas, Both Parties Are Stupid

Beck is a wacko. Just because his research staff found video of the President’s appointees saying stupid things doesn’t change anything.
Obama is a left-leaning liberal with ties to socialists and (gasp!) communists. Is this a shock to anyone? Do you mean to tell me that people are genuinely afraid that communists will take over America? Give me a break!
Let’s look at the flip side…Bush and his cronies were all ultra-right wing Evangelicals (I refuse to call them Republicans) with ties to corporatists and (gasp!) fascists. His Administration passed laws that made it impossible to discharge unsecured credit card debt in bankruptcy court, deregulated banking to the point of collapse and launched two major foreign wars of aggression. Does this mean that America is evil? Does it mean that the bankers and corporations have taken over America? Well, maybe.
America is a nation of over simplifications and knee-jerk reactions. 9/11 happened so we launch 2 foreign wars and repeal civil liberties with the Patriot Act. Republicans caused the Great Recession so we elected liberals because we didn’t have any other viable options.
We are a bipolar nation and that is at the heart of the problem. Beck is just the latest example of that reality.
Because we oscillate so wildly between extremes we end up acting like an enraged toddler. Is it really that hard to understand why all the nations on Earth are terrified of us? Remember that fear is the root of hate. Because they fear our military might, they hate us too.
The problem is we focus on personalities instead of ideas. I don’t care if Beck’s research staff finds photos of Obama playing golf with Satan. What matters is the ideas they propose to fix this nation.
And right now, the liberals seem to have all the ideas.
America is very broken. It’s time for serious people with serious ideas to come together and try to find the right way to deal with our problems. America is in decline right now, and the only way to turn it around is to get serious about the future.
So long as Beck (and Palin too) is shouting stupidities and playing an endless game of “Gotcha!” then I will continue to ignore him. When they propose an idea, I will give it due consideration and make a judgement based on merit, not hysteria.
Until I hear a good idea that is true to the American ideals come from Beck I will continue to ignore him. For example, Beck’s 9/12 Project completely ignores the foundational principles of this country. It mischaracterizes quotes from the Founders to further an Evangelical agenda. Sorry, but that is not what it takes to fix America.
Sadly, very few members of the GOP have been proposing real ideas. All they want to do is argue against everything instead of proposing an alternative.
I was completely disgusted when I saw that the GOP budget proposal didn’t include ANY NUMBERS! How the hell is anyone supposed to take them seriously?
Don’t think I have any less disgust for Democrats. They are just idiots. But at least they are proposing ideas for facing the challenges of the 21st Century. Stupid, misguided and silly ideas, but at least they are trying.
It is sad. Idiots are running Washington and all we citizens do is argue about which Sideshow Barker is better. Ridiculous.

Thanks for commenting Kicker. As you can tell, this blog is just getting off the ground. I don’t really have a posting schedule since I write my tirades based on the latest idiocy coming from the politicos. Glad you liked the post. Tell all your friends to support Bigfoot4Congress.
